Yeah . . . Mexico Doesn't Really Celebrate Thanksgiving
¡Hola! It's been a crazy week. We've had no free time whatsoever, which is weird bc not much super special happened, it's just the busy life of trying to optimize the time I've dedicated to serve God.
I did however get to go to the temple finally. I'm supposed to have gone 4 times by now but instead I've got a record breaking 2 temple trips in the month I've been out, both trips in the last week. But at least the ones I missed were replaced by good things, like Elder Bednar coming.
The first pic I'll send here is the pic of my Thanksgiving dinner. Yeah.... it was pretty sad. I got a nice sandwich, an apple, and a juice box. I also only had 5 min to eat so I just ate the sandwich. It had a lot of mayo on it. I haaaaate mayo, but what choice did I have?
Side note: if you've read this far please make it to the end, it gets better.
We had a special devotional broadcast from Elder Ronald A Rasband this morning. They realized how little my group of missionaries had gone to the temple so they adjusted our schedule so that we could make it today. That was awesome. The bad news is it ment our trip was being pushed right into the middle of rush hour. They planned on the bus ride taking 1hr and 15min. It's an 8mi drive. Mexico has some traffic problems. This meant I was gonna be gone at the temple from 1:30-8pm. And thus my Thanksgiving dinner was a sack lunch after the temple.
The good news: thanks to some awesome planning, they surprised us by having Thanksgiving dinner for lunch. Mexico doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, which meant that none of the workers had the day off (dont feel bad, they get other holidays). They made us a rather impressive elaborate Thanksgiving meal for us gringos. It was actually sooo good. So that's what I'm thankful for today, good planning (I realize y'all probably won't get this til tomorrow because I had a busy day, but I'm writing this on Thanksgiving).
Last miracle I'll mention: because our temple trip was pushed later in the day, I got some fire pics of the Mexico temple with all the Christmas lights that they finished putting up earlier today. What a blessing.
Ether 12:4, probably my favorite verse recently. I heard it 5 different times from 5 different people in 2 days. Take a look.
Love y'all
