Falling Through Space 🌌

This week was incredible.  On tuesday we had the chance to watch our recent convert, Cesar, baptize his younger brother Anderson.  It was such a cool experience.  Cesar has only been a member of the Church for 1 month and he was able to help his 12 year old brother follow his example.  Everytime we go over to teach them it is so much fun.  They always love to think of deep questions and ask us when we arrive.  Paraguayans are very innocent people.  Anderson and Cesar both get almost all A's in their classes, but their questions are so weird.  They ask us if the world is flat or round.  We explain that it is indeed round and they respond, "Well why are we always on the bottom?  I want Paraguay to be on the top.  Also how do we not fall off the world if we are under it?"  We dove into a really long explanation of how gravity works and that if you dug a hole through the middle of the earth you would not fall all the way though and keep falling through space.  These guys are just too funny.

Also, I am currently serving in a district that I have been in before.  And this week I had the opportunity to do exchanges in my old area of 11 months!  It was so cool.  I spent the whole day pointing out the houses that I had contacted and telling the other missionary, "They're not interested, and they're not interested, and over there, they're not interested."  It was really funny.  

I also had to opportunity to catch up with some old friends.  My favorite is we went to visit a really big family that I worked with almost every day.  While I was there, a girl named Lujan had gotten baptized and we were working to help Nayeli, Camila, and Bendito get baptized.  I left the area before any of them got baptized.  Apparently there were some complications and they didn't end up getting baptized until last month, Nayeli and Camila got baptized, and that inspired Bendito get baptized on Saturday.  I arrived at their house and greeted everyone.  The grandma recognized me and said, "Oh what a surprise!  Good to see you back!"  Then Nayeli, who is just 8 years old, came running in and I said, "Nayeli!  I heard you got baptized!"  Her face instantly turned cold and she asked quietly and fearfully, "How do you know my name?" Guess you can't win them all.

Op! I love that greeting.  Paraguayans are very specific about the way they greet people.  Op is used to acknowledge the presence of someone you know, but you don't necessarily want to talk to them.  It's almost like honking your car horn in passing. Anywayyy.... I hope you're all doing well.  My week went by really quickly.  We honestly didn't see much success.  There are days where I don't see success and usually I know that I could have done better.  This week was different.  I gave it my all and still nothing happened.  My area is the exact same as last week.  But that's okay.  I feel really happy about it.  I was really focusing on my love for God and for the people this week, and I saw the results.  I was simply really happy and ready to serve, success or not. Craziest First Baptism

¡Hola! OK, I had a pretty crazy week (definitely more busy than last week, lol).  I'll start with a real quick summary of the highlights, and then I'll start explaining the miracles. Highlights: -Elder Park is better (no longer sick) -I went bowling for pday -Found out the temperatures for our mini oven are listed in Celsius, not Fahrenheit (Duh! It makes so much more sense now) -We got chewed out twice for dumb things (my poor comp got personally insulted and attacked by the Elders Quorum President and the 1st Counselor, both separately for 20-30min, because we didn't tell them about our baptism 10 days in advance, which we didn't know until 5 days before and couldn't wait longer.  Can't please everyone I guess) -I dreamed in spanish (sure I dreamed that I couldn't understanding anyone and people kept giving me the wrong food because I couldn't talk to them, but still, I dreamed in spanish) -We answered somebody's prayer.  We felt like we should lea...

No Subject

Hey everyone!  This week was incredible!  We only worked half the week because of my sick comp and zone conference but our numbers of finding and church attendance and everything were WAY more than normal, thanks to the blessings of God. There was one time that we decided to eat out for lunch, something I hadn't done before unless it was empanadas.  I ended up getting a pretty tasty soup that tasted a little like pirate booty, with a giant part of a chicken sitting it the middle, skin, bones, and all.  I used my fork and knife to cut the chicken sitting in my soup to eat what I could.  When I finished, or at least thought I had finished, a man came up to us and told me that as a part of Paraguayan culture, you pick up the chicken and eat it with your hands, despite it being covered in soup!  Turns out this dude was really awesome and paid for our food and invited us to his house for us to teach him!  How cool!
