I Don't Even Know What's Happening!
Wowzers. I have had quite the week. I have no idea where to start. So much happened that I can't remember any of it. I'm just going to start typing and we'll see what comes out.
So this week we had transfers. Transfer week is always the most busy ever. This is the week that I prepare to not sleep a wink. It always starts when the missionaries that are headed back home arrive to the office. They all got here a week ago on Saturday. We took them to the temple, and to go get souvenirs, leaving me with basically no pday last week, and therefore little time to prepare for this week. I also recorded their last testimonies and made a video for them before they left the mission.
Sunday we had stake conference. Right now I am in the same stake that I was in when I started the mission here in Paraguay, so I saw all the members from my old ward. It was pretty funny because I was here for stake conference when they did it about 7 months ago, and I think I'll still be here when they do it again jaja. But that was pretty cool.
On Monday we spent a lot of the day and night in the airport. Yayyyy.
Tuesday we finally had shipped everyone off to their homes and it was finally quiet in the office. Just us and two more missionaries that had later flights. We started preparing for transfers the next day and we are always pretty busy with that. Cleaning everything up, working out travel plans, and changing whatsapp accounts for every area in the mission (That part is solely my job, always super complicated because we have to transfer contacts and old messages and everything). Anyway, we were just working quietly in the office when all of a sudden we get a call from the mission president saying "THERE'S A BOMB IN THE OFFICE!" Our Mission President doesn't usually joke like that so we left. I can't really share any details, but long story short, I stayed at home most of that day while police officers searched the building and blocked off the whole block and our church building went on national television. Later that day, we went to the airport and dropped off the last two Elders. We started heading back home when our Mission President called from the airport saying his car battery died, then one of the Elders called from the airport saying they couldn't get on the plane or something. After resolving a lot more complications, we went back to the office. During this drive I called the old tech specialist and was telling him about all my problems and all the things I still had to do in the last few hours of the day because the whole bomb incident really threw off my schedule. It was in that moment that I realized how much I actually do here haha.
The next morning I woke up and was casually walking back to the office. I was trying to remember what I ate for dinner the day before, and I just couldn't remember for a solid 5 minutes. Finally I remembered. Then I remembered what I ate for lunch. It was in that moment that I finally remembered that the bomb had caused me to have lunch outside of the office. It took me a solid 10 minutes to remember that there was a bomb in the first place. After thinking about that for sometime, I decided that my life is so crazy that a bomb didn't even faze me. I think that would generally be a more life-stirring event for people, but I couldn't even remember because I was so busy. Weird.
Okay, we have now reached Wednesday morning. That's less than half the week. Luckily the other half was mostly just catching up on office duties and helping new missionaries become legal in the country. Still busy, but a little less exciting to talk about haha.
Just want you all to know I love you! Have a great week!
